I’ve often heard that when God speaks to you, He will speak to you more than once, from multiple sources. That is what happened to me today. I received his message loud and clear. It was a message that I didn’t even know that I needed to hear.
Let me start at the beginning. Whenever I need to deal with something, I turn to books. Reading is what I love to do so it’s naturally where I turn when I need information. In this season of my life I turned to two of my favorite Bible teachers: Lysa TerKeurst and Beth Moore.
I first read It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way by Lysa TerKeurst. I devoured the book in two sittings. She truly understood my pain because she was living the same nightmare that I am currently living. It was the book that I absolutely needed.
Today I was reading Delivered by Beth Moore. I am not yet done with this book but I can already see the benefit that it will have on my journey toward healing. While reading, I came across a line that stopped me dead in my tracks.
If God allowed you to be thrown into a pit, you weren’t being picked on; you were being picked out.by Beth Moore
I stopped because I knew that I had heard that somewhere before. I went searching through my notes from Lysa’s book and came across this line.
God isn’t picking on me. God is picking me to personally live out one of His promises.by Lysa TerKeurst
It had never come to my mind that I thought God was picking on me. Or at least I had never thought about it in those terms before. I had often asked the question of why? in various forms. Why me? Why did this happen? Why did you allow this God? So, I guess it all came down to a feeling of being picked on by God. And I needed was to see that as a lie straight out of the pit of hell.
I don’t know what message you may need to hear from God today. Perhaps it’s the same message that I received. Or maybe He is saying something else to you. All I can tell you is to keep listening because He will speak to you.
